Job description

We are looking for a Head of Development, who will be responsible for managing and overseeing the product development process at Dataedo. You will lead and grow a remote software development team, as well as a network of external experts and freelancers. Working closely with product management, you will participate in defining the product roadmap, features, quality and scope of product releases. The right candidate will strive to increase the efficiency, speed, quality and transparency of the development process.

As a Head of Development, you will be:

  • Responsible for product development process – efficient, timely, and cost-effective delivery of value to our customers
  • Working closely with product management to agree on roadmap, features, quality, and scope of product releases
  • Creating estimates, schedules, and scope of product releases
  • Implementing new tools, processes, and best practices to improve the speed and efficiency of development process
  • Managing, leading, and working on a daily basis with a growing remote software development team (currently 7), motivating and coaching the team members
  • Recruiting new team members, as well as establishing relationships with external experts, freelancers, and companies with the required capabilities and/or skillset
  • Ensuring transparency of the development process via reporting and updates
  • Continuously improving the product quality through testing, QA, and quality control
  • Preparing and maintaining documentation associated with team and process (contracts, procedures etc.)
  • Solving (all kind of) problems to ensure smooth execution of the plan

Optionally, you can also help us with:

  • Planning and designing architecture and technology of our products
  • Assisting and guiding the development team in solving the most challenging technical problems

We expect from you:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development
  • 5+ years in team or project management
  • Experience managing teams of 5 or more
  • Experience in creating estimates, schedules and project scopes
  • Being able to design, report on and keep improving the development process
  • Creativity, problem solving skills and business-driven mindset
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Thriving in a startup, ever-changing environment
  • Switching swiftly between a hands-on operational mode and a strategic perspective
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Polish
