Dataedo is a modern data catalog and database documentation tool with global client base. Our goal is helping organizations understand their ever growing data assets in this unprecedented data revolution that is unfolding before our eyes.

To help us achieve our goal we are looking for a person with good knowledge of relational databases and good communication skills that can present software functionalities, ideas and concepts in plain english. If you fit this description and would like to write and teach developers, architects and DBAs then we have a job for you as:

Technical writer

As a technical writer you would contribute to our technical and user documentation, knowledge base (about databases and tools) and blog.

As a technical writer you will:

Our technical writer must:

  • Have at least 2 years of computer science university (or related) or 1 year of commercial experience in software development or database administration field
  • Have a good understanding of relational database and data modeling concepts
  • Like to learn new things and be able to do it on his/her own
  • Be good at communicating ideas effectively and to the point using words and images
  • Be detail oriented
  • Be fluent in written english

Before applying please complete a test:

  1. Explain in layman’s terms (as you would to your mother) what are database tables, relationships and database views.
  2. Write short instruction (with images and/or animations) on how to use one of the following:

    • a. a lift (in a building),
    • b. a bicycle (getting started),
    • c. a paid parking lot.

Focus on “how”, but don’t forget about “why”.
