You are looking at documentation for an older release.
Switch to the documentation for Dataedo 7.x (current).

Dataedo server repository is created automatically with a wizard, all you need to do is provide an SQL Server instance and user credentials with sufficient privileges to create a new database.

You may, however, prefer to have this process under control. You can do this following a few simple steps (use database tools of your choice):

    1. Create an empty database. A default name is "dataedo" but it can be valid database name.
    2. Connect to the database and run a script provided with Dataedo installation. This script contains a set of DDLs and inserts statements that will create repository schema and insert sample documentations. It can be found in your Dataedo installation folder: \Scripts\create_repository.sql.
    3. Run Dataedo Administration Console and connect to the newly created repository using the same credentials you used in point 1 and assign one of the users an access (or create a new user).

If those steps have been performed your repository is created and you can connect to it providing server and database connection details using credentials of the user you granted access.
