AI-generated vs regular descriptions

Dataedo has two separate fields for descriptions - a regular description field (marked below with a solid border) and an AI-generated description field (marked below with a dashed border). Both can be viewed independently.

Who can view AI descriptions?

Any user with access to the particular object has access to regular and AI-generated description fields.

Object overview page

If the AI-generated text is saved as an AI description, it is always visible on the object page under the regular description field.

Columns grid

AI descriptions are visible next to regular column descriptions. In the Columns tab, they are distinguished with an icon. AI description fields are hidden by default if a regular description is provided.

Side panel

AI-generated descriptions are visible in the side panel, just below the regular description field.

Descriptions in Dataedo Desktop

AI-generated descriptions are visible in Dataedo Desktop in a dedicated tab on table, view, term, or KPI overview:

The descriptions are also displayed in a separate column on tables, views, columns, or glossary entries grids:

If you don't see the AI Description column in the grid:

  1. Click the Column Chooser icon in the grid toolbar.
  2. Select the option AI description from the Column Chooser popup.
