Viewing AI-generated descriptions
AI-generated vs. regular descriptions
There are two types of descriptions in Dataedo:
- Regular description
- AI-generated description
You can see them displayed in separate tiles across various view in Dataedo Portal:
Any user with access to a specific object can view both types of descriptions.

If you saved an AI-generated description, it appears below the regular description field.
Columns grid
AI descriptions appear next to regular descriptions and are marked with a icon.
If an object has a regular description, the AI-generated description will be hidden by default.
Click the Show AI descriptions button to display them in the columns grid view.
Descriptions in Dataedo Desktop
AI description tab
AI descriptions are available in a dedicated tab for tables, views, terms, and KPIs.
AI description column
AI descriptions are also displayed in Dataedo Desktop in a separate column in tables, views, columns, and glossary grids.
Add the AI description column
If you don't see the AI Description column in the grid, follow these steps to add it:
- Click the Column Chooser icon in the grid toolbar.
- Select AI Description from the popup.
