To be able to receive notifications over email, you need to provide valid credentials to the SMTP server. To do that you need the Admin rights:
- Click the Settings icon in the top right corner
- Select the System settings option
- Open the Email tab
- Complete the SMTP configuration form
- Press Save to save the entered data
- Restart the IIS service running the Dataedo Portal instance (e.g. in IIS Manager)
Troubleshooting
Notifications are neither sent via e-mail nor displayed in Dataedo Portal
Reason
The notifications are generated only for the objects you explicitly follow by pressing the bell icon. If you don't follow the object, you won't receive the notifications (neither in the Dataedo Portal nor via e-mail).
Solution
Ensure you follow the object. For details, see Following and email notifications.
Notifications are not sent via e-mail despite being displayed in Dataedo Portal
Reason
The e-mail notifications are sent only for the operations made by users with a completed “Email” field in user details.
Solution
- Click the Settings icon in the top right corner
- Select the User management option
In the above example, the highlighted user has empty NAME and EMAIL fields. Such a situation is possible e.g. if you have a default group in your repository and users logged in for the first time get the permissions defined for such group. You won't be notified about actions done by such users until you enter their e-mails.
To edit the user's details:
- Press the Details button
- Enter the user's display name and e-mail in the Edit Settings form
- Press Save button
