This article will describe you how to view and edit table and column comments with Toad for Oracle.

Start from opening Schema Browser from Database in toolbar.

Option 1

In Schema Browser find there table, that comments you want to view/edit. Switch to Columns tab.

To view column comments expand Column and Comments options and select Show column comments in grid. Now column lists contains also Comments column.

To edit comments expand Column and Comments options and select:

• Show table comments - at the bottom will appear table comment. Check Editable Table Comments to unlock field to edit
• Show table comments- at the bottom will appear selected column comment. Check Editable Column Comments to unlock field to edit

You can open similar window which allows to edit comments e.g. by ER Diagram or from Object Search. If you right click on entity/result row, there should be Describe option which opens Object Details window.

Option 2

Find in Schema Browser your table, than right click on it and select Alter.

In the new window switch tab to Comments. Now you can edit both comments, for table and columns, in one place.
