Teach me, Master

Teach me, Master

Do you have a Master to teach you analytics?

I take the knowledge with me

I take the knowledge with me

Are you aware that majority of the knowledge in your organization or team is inside people’s brains? That knowledge is valuable. And when they leave you lose it.

To protect it with documentation. For documentation of data – use Dataedo.

New people on data team

New people on data team

Your data analytics and BI needs to grow so you decided to hire new people. But that doesn't mean you have new capacity. Your cost base grew, that's for sure. But new hires are not productive right away, they do not know the data or the domain. So, either they sit idle, or wasting time on trying to replicate what other already know, or they take away the time from your top people and your capacity for the few weeks (months?).

Hiring new people to your data team is hard and painful. But you can make it so much easier and efficient – just create and publish data documentation! That will be the teacher for all the new people, it will save time of your data gurus by not having to show them everything themselves! I have heard stories that all it takes to onboard new hire is to give them passwords, tools, a desk (sorry, obsolete), and a link to the documentation (more relevant than ever)…

IT on holidays

IT on holidays

If you don’t want phone calls on your holidays, leave a documentation before you leave.

Out of office

Out of office

Do you depend on single people's knowledge when accessing your data? No matter how knowledgeable and helpful they are, they are only people. People who go on holiday, sick leaves or even leave your organization. Don't risk and gather your knowledge in Dataedo data catalog.

Table names have often cryptic and non-intuitive names. Can tell their names from the top of your head, can find them or need a reference documentation?
